It seems pretty expensive too. I found the unit on ebay used for $75 or new at https://rounded.com/gear-s3-classic-sm-r… for over $100. There is a guide for disassembly here on ifixit....
Chosen Solution Brightness will not adjust when tapped. In settings Brightness is light grey, and cannot be turned on Here is more or less what your brightness settings should look like. Make sure your adaptive brightness is off. Hope this helps! To get it to come back up turn off battery saving setting

Chosen Solution you have the wrong type of antenna setup…. you will need 18ft coax cable and antenna mount, with a descent antenna…( approx. 3ft.) fiberglass rod style or a magnetic base mount, ie. wilson “lil wil” or a K30 mag mount…. these both come with pre-installed coax cable. you will need to set the SWR’s on the antenna to a 1:1-1.7 on the meter that you use. the closer you the match, the better… good luck!...

However, when placing back, the display work just fine apart from that the screen might feel slightly hotter than it was before. I was bent over and they fell off from about a foot or two off the ground, The jack for the headphone may have pushed the slot in a bit and now it’shard to hear anything out of the right ear when plugged in. Chosen Solution My dvd drive opens by itself at intervals. Is this a defective drive or something else? Two possibilities a) Open Task Scheduler, and see if there any program there that will eject the cd tray every so often. b) the eject button on the drive is either stuck down or broken. You can gently remove the plastic out facia and see if that continues to eject.

Remove the battery or external power supply. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Install the battery or external power supply. If that does not work, and you are sure your flash is on, you may have to replace the flash assembly....

As I was doing that, I discovered a broken cable right around where the power button goes. Wondering if this was causing the problems?? What is this cable?? (See pics) You should have four Coax cables coming from the lid hinge that go to your AirPort board....
